Ronald Reagan agrees with President Obama on economic justice in our time. Tea Party Repubs now hating Reagan for rising from the grave to become a Rhino. Yes, I know their little minds are funny. Too much Fox/Beck worship. Too much TV and not enough education. SHARE!
Former President Ronald Reagan discusses immigration reform, amnesty, and the plight of undocumented workers. ...And to think, those lunatics who want to close the borders and kick out everyone with darker skin than theirs and then turn around and hail like a god, a man who said with all the passion in his heart "I believe in Amnesty for those who have put down roots and who have lived here, even though sometime back, they may have entered illegally." How I wish the Republican party was half as like Reagan as they think they are. He'd be disgusted by them now. They'd call him a Democrat or Rhino. “Reagan, who raised taxes over and over again, and tripled the deficit. He couldn’t win this nomination of President on the conservative side in 2011-2012".
Candidates Ronald Reagan & George Bush-41 Discuss Illegal Immigration in 1980 Debate. The candidates are asked a question about the children of Illegal Immigrants attending public schools in 1980...and both give reasonable answers that the Tea Party Republicans would call un-patriotic and anti-conservative.
Former Reagan Solicitor General Charles Fried delivered testimony during a Senate hearing on the "The Constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act," expressing, in no uncertain terms, his personal assessment that he is "quite sure that the health care mandate is constitutional." I am quite sure that the health care mandate is constitutional. My authorities are not recent. They go back to John Marshall, who sat in the Virginia legislature at the time they ratified the Constitution, and who, in 1824, in Gibbons v. Ogden, said, regarding Congress' Commerce power, "what is this power? It is the power to regulate. That is--to proscribe the rule by which commerce is governed." To my mind, that is the end of the story of the constitutional basis for the mandate. The mandate is a rule--more accurately, "part of a system of rules by which commerce is to be governed," to quote Chief Justice Marshall. And if that weren't enough for you--though it is enough for me--you go back to Marshall in 1819, in McCulloch v. Maryland, where he said "the powers given to the government imply the ordinary means of execution. The government which has the right to do an act"--surely, to regulate health insurance--"and has imposed on it the duty of performing that act, must, according to the dictates of reason, be allowed to select the means." And that is the Necessary and Proper Clause." I think that one thing about Judge Vinson's opinion, where he said that if we strike down the mandate everything else goes, shows as well as anything could that the mandate is necessary to the accomplishment of the regulation of health insurance. Earlier this week, Roger Vinson, a Republican Judge from Florida, ruled the entire health care reform law unconstitutional, after finding that the individual mandate aspect of the package constituted governmental overreach. --------------- User comment- For those claiming that insurance mandate is unconstitutional, they should ask the judges if it is constitutional for them to compel hospital emergency rooms to treat the uninsured who can't afford the hospital fees. The opposition to the health care bill is more about being anti-Obama than anything else Even if these bigoted bastards destroy the country in the process, they are hell bent on seeing "Obama fail".
